Be Wary Of This Computer Virus

Our computer consultant sent us this information earlier this morning. Many people on Vancouver Island have already been affected by this.
Caution there is a pop up that is taking over laptop and desktop computers that said you have to call the number on your screen to unlock your computer - it even has a voice over. Do not call the number. Shut your computer down immediately, unplug your internet and wait 30 minutes. When you reboot your computer go to setting and clear your browsing history.
Gold River Company Makes On-Line Rotary Auction Possible

Gold River Productions (who owns The Daily Gold) has made it possible for the Campbell River Rotary Club to broadcast the annual auction live on the internet. In 2000 the Rotary Club attempted to broadcast the auction live on the internet so they could reach out of town bidders and local residents that did't subscribe to cable.
Unfortunately, the technicians at Shaw Cable were not able to figure out how to stream the auction with anything less than a 15 second delay. A delay of that length for a live auction simply wasn't going to work.
In 2001 the Rotary Club reached out to Russ Wagg (co-owner of GR Productions) and asked if we could solve the problem. After a few days a trial and error, we were able to come up with a solution. We have been helping the Rotary Club with the auction every year and are happy to report that a substantial amount of money is raised every auction as a result of viewers who are watching the auction on their computers.

The Food Bank Needs Your Help

The Santa's Elves food bank blitz takes place Sunday November 19th. Volunteers will be going door to door for donations on non-perishable food items. No donations is too small. Let's all chip in and make this a happy holiday season for everyone.
