A Message From Our New Librarian

September 02, 2017

Hello, everyone! I am the new Librarian at the elementary and secondary schools here in GR. I'm looking at putting together a creative corner in the library at RWES, and hoping folks here might have some unused Lego sets, Frontier Logs, or kids construction kits their own children might have grown out of that they would be willing to donate. If so, you could bring them by the library next week.Thank you in advance!

Ham Radio Operator Certification In October?

September 01, 2017

This message comes to us from the Strathcona Regional District Protective Services Coordinator

Dear residents of Gold River

I am seeking your input please.

The emergency program is exploring the feasibility of running a Ham Radio Operator Certification course near you over two weekends in October. The cost would likely be $40 for the course, or $120 for the course + your own radio. The exam would be administered sometime during the first week of November, and the instructors would work with the class to setup the most convenient exam date/time.

The course times would be something along the lines of:
Friday October 13 6-9pm
Saturday October 14 10am-4
Sunday October 15 10am-4
Friday October 27 6-9pm
Saturday October 28 10am-4
Sunday October 29 10am-4

If this course were to be offered in Gold River would you be interested in taking it?

If this course were to be offered in Tahsis would you be interested in taking it? Or would the drive be a deterrent?

Your thoughts?

Please contact the Regional District for more information.

This is an annual fundraiser for Gold River Childcare Society and this year they raised $1300.00. Starting off the school year as a non-profit is always a struggle, but this fundraiser helps us purchase supplies every year.
